Chapter 679: God’s Wrath
Chapter 679: God’s Wrath
"cough... if... if you want to save him, wrath... that’s easy. you only need to cooperate with me and not undo my ritual. that’s all," the noble-like man said with a smirk, confidence radiating from his belief in his survival.
koyuki remained silent, turning toward pride, who was still trying to decipher the blood magic circle on the ground. after a moment, pride looked up at koyuki, her face etched with worry and uncertainty.
"pride... tell me you can undo it," koyuki asked, her voice tense.
for a fleeting moment, pride wanted to retort with her usual quip that koyuki had no right to demand anything from her. but she suppressed the urge, realizing this was no time for her pride to make a scene.
"i can... but it would take at least a few days. this magic circle was created by combining hundreds, perhaps thousands, of intricate magic formulas. while its main function is to convert the blood and soul of victims into mana, it has many supporting functions. these include auxiliary components like mind suggestion and even the ability to transfer someone to the abyssal realm," pride explained methodically.
"and before you ask, i don’t think teacher envy could help us with this either. unless she can rewind time itself, her assistance would only shorten the process by a day at most."
"only one day?" koyuki repeated, frowning deeply. that one day is not going to help. the hell’s gate will be completed in several hours, and there’s nothing they can do.
her gaze shifted back to the man who had once worn the owl mask.
the man laughed and giggled, reveling in his triumph over his nemesis. he then looked at koyuki smugly.
"how about it, wrath? are you interested in cooperating with me now? i promise to help you locate him. all i ask is that you allow me to study your divine power," he said with a chuckle, his tone dripping with self-assurance.
he knew koyuki’s track record well. before daniel became a mage, she had once lured him into an ambush under the threat of the crown prince of the tessia kingdom. the prince had threatened to place false charges against daniel and kill him if she didn’t comply. out of fear for her beloved’s safety—and with the prince’s promise not to harm him—she had reluctantly called daniel to the trap.
the man believed that koyuki would make the same mistake again. he was confident that her desperation to protect her lover would drive her to act rashly. after all, history has a tendency to repeat itself.
koyuki’s grip on the man’s neck unconsciously loosened as hesitation flickered in her eyes. her heart pounded as uncertainty gnawed at her resolve.
dark, intrusive thoughts crept into her mind, each one painting a worse scenario for her beloved’s safety. this made her grow even more fearful for her beloved safety... she felt powerless... as if she was back when she was just a helpless woman.
the man, noticing the shift in her demeanor, chuckled before producing a contract from his inner pocket. it was a slave contract.
his intent was clear... he wanted to study the divinity within koyuki intensively. he sought to understand how it connected to her bloodline and, more disturbingly, whether it was possible to sire a child with this specific ability.
all these experiments filled him with excitement; he couldn’t wait to get his hands on koyuki.
"snap out of it already, koyuki!" pride shouted, jolting koyuki from her dark thoughts.
"whose realm!?"
"aarrararaggghhh! l... arggh... lucifer! ugghh... arrg..."
with the answer given, koyuki ceased her attack, though divine sparks still crackled around her hand. she looked down at the man, twitching as the divine electricity coursed through him. the foul stench of his yellow liquid and brown solid waste now stained the floor around him.
koyuki wrinkled her nose in disdain and stepped back to avoid the waste that was slowly streaming toward her.
"what’s your name?" koyuki asked, pointing her crackling, lightning-imbued hand at him.
"m... murad... murad osman... the... the last prince of the ottoman empire... and a demigod..." murad osman stammered, his will to resist crushed under koyuki’s merciless torture. he spilled everything without hesitation.
"good... ’murad osman, the prince who died drowning in his own shit.’ that’ll be written on your tombstone," koyuki said, a murderous glint in her eyes as she charged her divine bolt again.
"get down!" pride shouted, rushing toward koyuki while she was still focused on murad osman.
boom!
a red beam struck pride’s space shield and exploded, partially melting the magic circle and creating a thick cloud of smoke. amidst the haze, pride sensed movement. koyuki quickly unleashed her charged divine bolt at the source, but it missed.
pride cast a wind spell to disperse the smoke. as the mist cleared, two figures emerged, standing at the secret entrance. the uninvited guests had arrived through another route.
the first was clad in armor resembling power armor. yet, the presence of strong divinity emanating from it indicated it was a divine artifact, something beyond the capabilities of ordinary mages to create.
he had long hair, a full-grown beard, and a large, imposing build. he was hephaestus, the god of the forge.
the second figure was a muscular man wearing a closed helmet that concealed his face. his armor hid all distinguishing features except his muscular outline. beyond that, there was nothing to identify him. however, his silent demeanor and unsettling presence sent a chill through the air.
"lord hephaestus... are you with them too? i thought you were better than this," koyuki said coldly.
stay tuned with empire
"what’s wrong with wanting to go home, child? what’s wrong with wanting to rectify the wrongs and do what’s right? without us gods, you mages are nothing. there’s nothing in this world that can restore mana to your world as effectively as we can. you tried to use the mana from hell, and now you humans are trying to stop it. isn’t that proof enough that you can’t live without us, huh?" hephaestus asked with a smile.
"go home...? rectify the wrong? what are you talking about?" koyuki channeled her divine power, preparing to use full power in case hephaestus tried to do anything stupid.
