Chapter 56: Searching for Ravenholdt Manor
Chapter 56: Searching for Ravenholdt Manor
"Okay," Alvin said.
"Looks like I have to change my plan."
He paced back and forth in the room, walked around a few times, and then came back to sit beside Akalitasa's bed with a serious expression.
"From now on, you must strictly keep your identity confidential and never let anyone know your true identity."
Alvin instructed, "Also, I also know that my so-called sister is a dangerous black dragon. But I haven't told her that I know her true identity. She now only thinks I see her as a witch. So you have to keep it a secret for me too. Don't let that woman know that I know she's a black dragon. Do you understand?"
Akalitasa thought for a long time and felt a little confused.
This was indeed a bit confusing, so Alvin sorted out his words and tried to explain it to the girl in a way that was easier for her to understand.
"That is, you can't let her know that I know she is the Black Dragon. Do you understand?"
The girl thought about it and finally nodded.
"That's good,"
Alvin continued, "Just stay in your room pretending to be sick lately. I don't think that woman will bother you, so you don't have to face her."
Akalitassa nodded vigorously, the mere thought of living in the same town with the black dragon made her tremble, as if it was a fear of a natural enemy, but she was happy not to go out.
"Rest today. Starting tomorrow, I'll have the boss deliver all the food to your room. Try not to go out. I'll go back and rest now."
Just as Alvin was about to leave, Akali Tasha suddenly stretched out her white arms from under the quilt and grabbed Alvin.
The girl had a frightened look on her face and didn't seem to want him to leave.
Alvin smiled helplessly and said, "Okay, then I'll watch you. I won't leave until you fall asleep. Go to sleep!"
“This is just like raising a child!”
Alvin sighed inwardly.
"Everyone is a multi-ton baby dragon..."
Akalitassa nodded in relief and closed her eyes, but her hand was still tightly holding the corner of Alvin's clothes.
After a while, her eyelashes moved slightly and her breathing became steady. It was obvious that she had fallen asleep. Alvin then tiptoed out of the room.
"I'll be busy tomorrow."
He pondered in his heart.
The next day, as soon as the sun rose, Alvin arrived at the residence of Mayor Scarlock Baggio early.
The morning sun shone into the courtyard, and the air was filled with a hint of fresh floral fragrance. Alvin walked up the steps and knocked on the door.
After a while, the butler Sebastian came out to greet them. This strict butler always had a dignified expression on his face.
"Mr. Irwin Priest, what's going on so early in the morning?"
He asked politely with a slight bow.
Alvin smiled and replied, "I made an appointment with Miss Alyssa Baggio to go somewhere together."
After hearing this, Sebastian showed an understanding expression on his face.
"So it's a date," he said softly.
"But the young lady hasn't gotten up yet."
He immediately turned around and instructed the maid beside him, "Immediately arrange for someone to wake the young lady up and wash up. Such unpunctual behavior is extremely rude!"
Sebastian turned back and bowed slightly to Alvin, his tone apologetic: "Please wait a moment, Mr. Alvin Priest. We will arrange for the young lady to be ready as soon as possible. We are deeply sorry to have kept you waiting."
Alvin nodded, secretly admiring the Baggio family's rigor and etiquette.
He sat waiting in the hall, boredly counting the murals on the wall.
After a while, Alyssa came out accompanied by her maid.
Unlike her crisp outfit yesterday, she was wearing an elegant long dress today. Her face was still tired. She whispered in a voice only Alvin could hear, "What are you doing here so early? Can't you let me sleep?"
Then, he raised his voice so that everyone nearby could hear him and said, "Sorry to have kept you waiting, Alvin."
Alvin responded with a smile: “It’s okay, Alyssa, I have a place I want to go today, and I want to invite you to come with me.”
"Okay, I'll arrange the carriage."
The girl said politely that the carriage would be ready in a short while.
Alvin gentlemanly helped Alyssa into the carriage first, and then followed suit.
After entering the carriage, Alyssa changed her ladylike appearance and revealed her original lively personality.
She smiled playfully, a curious glint in her eyes.
"How was your conversation with your sister yesterday?"
Alvin was slightly stunned, then smiled and leaned back against the cushions in the car.
"Oh, that was a very interesting conversation," he said mysteriously.
Alyssa moved closer curiously, her eyes full of anticipation.
"Tell me quickly, what happened?"
Alvin sighed softly, recalling the scene of last night.
"She is indeed a very complicated person. We talked a lot, and the conclusion is that I need to help him deal with our family's old enemy, Duke Falkress of Alterac. As long as this guy is killed, my sister will agree to leave Tarren Mill immediately."
Alyssa was stunned for a moment, frowning slightly, obviously having some impression of this name.
"Duke Falkures, I think I've heard of him... Oh right! I heard he's from Alterac and has gathered a large group of rogue criminals to form a criminal organization."
She lowered her voice and continued, "But no one knows the name of this organization, and no one knows where they are hiding. They seem to only serve those big shots, helping them do the dirty work of assassinations. But because they have the dark history of many big shots in their hands, no one dares to touch them."
"This notorious fellow is no ordinary opponent. Are you sure you want to go after him?"
Alyssa’s eyes flashed with worry, and she looked at Alvin.
"certainly,"
Alvin leaned over and whispered in Arya's ear, "Last night, as I was leaving the inn on my way to the banquet, a thief ambushed me and nearly killed me!"
Looking at Alyssa's shocked eyes, he continued, "Duke Fakures has already set his sights on me, the person who connects the two families."
He paused, then continued, "Eliminating his organization would not only serve justice, but also allow my sister to leave Tarren Mill contentedly, thus eliminating a potential war. Wouldn't that kill two birds with one stone?"
Alyssa thought about it and finally nodded.
"You're a brave man, Alvin. But do you know how dangerous this is? I can't even imagine how you managed to escape the assassination last night."
"It was indeed very dangerous at the time, and I was lucky enough to win."
Alvin was still frightened when he recalled what happened last night.
"So what are you going to do? We don't even know where this guy is hiding."
"I have an idea. Have you ever heard of Ravenholdt Manor?"
