Chapter 347: Breaking out of a desperate situation: Uesugi Kazuya's cunning escape

Shangshan Heye took a deep breath, suppressed his inner panic, and took advantage of the slight slackening in the firepower of Lei Tao and Xu Keming to stand up suddenly and throw the last grenade at the two men, while roaring: "Retreat!" Before he finished speaking, he quickly replaced the magazine of the MP35 submachine gun with his right hand, and then disappeared into the darkness on the side.

The grenade arced through the air, and Lei Tao and Xu Keming's faces suddenly changed. Their hearts sank, and instinct drove them to dodge like nimble cheetahs. With a loud bang, the grenade exploded between them. The powerful blast swept up dust and gravel from the ground, spreading out in all directions like a surging tide. The pungent smoke instantly filled the entire space, choking their throats and blurring their vision.

Taking advantage of the smoke from the explosion, two Japanese agents crouched down, their heads lowered almost to the ground, and ran towards the cave entrance at top speed. Their steps were hurried and frantic, making a series of chaotic noises on the cave floor, each step tinged with fear and eagerness.

Zheng Cheng and his men rushed to support them. As soon as they entered the battle zone, the thick, pungent smell of gunpowder assaulted their nostrils, and the fumes obscured their vision. Furious, he searched the hazy air with his eyes, finally catching a glimpse of two Japanese agents, looming in the smoke, desperately fleeing toward the cave entrance.

"Oh no! Shang Shanhe is about to run away! Chase him!" Zheng Cheng yelled at the top of his lungs, his voice echoing through the cave, filled with anxiety and anger. Almost immediately, he quickly raised his gun, not caring about taking precise aim, and pulled the trigger at the two blurry figures.

Bang, bang! Bullets flew by with a whistling sound, piercing the air with sharp clatters before striking the stone wall at the cave entrance. A series of bright sparks flew, and stone chips rained down. But the two agents, like frightened birds, reacted extremely quickly, instinctively dodging left and right, narrowly avoiding the attack.

In the blink of an eye, the two had reached the edge of the cave. Without a moment's hesitation, they leaped like bats swooping into the abyss, tracing two arcs through the air and plunging headfirst into the bottomless lake beneath the cliff. Two muffled "splashes" echoed, and the lake's surface erupted in a massive splash before quickly returning to calm. The two figures vanished, leaving only ripples in their wake.

Zheng Cheng rushed to the cave entrance and looked at the calm lake. His chest heaved violently, and he gasped for breath. His eyes were filled with resentment and regret. He punched the cave wall and gritted his teeth, "We can't let them get away like this!"

Everyone behind them also rushed over, watching this scene with anger in their hearts. Chen Feiyang walked over to Zheng Cheng, frowning, and said, "Captain Zheng, this old fox Shangshan Kazuya is too cunning. We can't bear to let him get away like this!" Liu Zishan also echoed, "Yes, he will definitely cause more trouble. We must catch him."

Zheng Cheng took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, his mind racing, pondering a strategy. Suddenly, his eyes flashed, a decision made. He slung his submachine gun over his body, stepped back a few steps, legs slightly bent, poised for action. Then, like an enraged cheetah, he lunged forward, leaping over the edge of the cave, tracing a powerful arc through the air before plunging into the lake with a loud splash.

The freezing cold lake water instantly enveloped Zheng Cheng's body, but he was completely unaware. He held his breath, opened his eyes, and searched around in the water for traces of Shangshan Kazuya and others.

Lei Tao and Xu Keming discovered that Shang Shanhe had also escaped. They were extremely anxious and quickly rushed out of the smoke. They ran to the cave entrance and watched Zheng Cheng jump into the water without hesitation. Lei Tao quickly took off his extra equipment and shouted to Xu Keming, "Brother Xu, we can't let Deputy Captain Zheng take risks alone. Let's go down too!"

However, unknown to them, Kazuya Uesuga, hiding in the shadows, quietly left through another exit while everyone's attention was focused on the lake. On his way, Kazuya Uesuga encountered a few isolated Military Intelligence Bureau agents. A fierce look flashed in his eyes, and he paused. His right hand swiftly reached for his waist, grasped the dagger, and with a flicker of his wrist, the dagger was unsheathed.

He tapped his toes lightly, making almost no sound, and slowly moved along the rough, cold wall, approaching the unsuspecting agents silently and ghostly. As the distance between them closed, his eyes grew sharper, locking onto his target, the murderous intent intensifying.

The agents glanced around warily, the air thick with tension. One of them seemed to notice something unusual, his brow furrowing slightly. He turned to check, but it was too late. Kazuya Uesugi seized the opportunity, leaping out like a flash of black lightning, his arm raised high, and slashed the dagger across the agent's throat with pinpoint precision. A faint hissing sound was heard, the sharp blade slicing through skin and trachea, and blood gushed out instantly, splashing streaks across the dim cavern. Before the other agents could react, Kazuya Uesugi had moved among them like a ghost, his dagger flashing with a cold light, swinging continuously. In the blink of an eye, several more flashes of blood flashed, and before they could even utter a cry, several agents, caught off guard by the sudden attack, collapsed in a pool of blood, which quickly spread across the ground.

However, Liu Zishan discovered Uesugi Kazuya's whereabouts. Liu Zishan happened to be passing by and saw the agent's body on the ground. He was startled and immediately alert, quickly gripping his gun. He was determined not to let this villain escape. Just then, he caught a glimpse of Uesugi Kazuya's figure flashing by and without hesitation, he drew his gun and chased after him.

Liu Zishan raised his submachine gun and opened fire. The deafening roar of gunfire echoed through the cave. Shangshan Kazuya quickly dodged, the bullets glancing off the hem of his shirt. A fierce gunfight ensued between the two men, bullets whizzing through the cave, sparks flying, and the acrid smell of gunpowder growing stronger.

Kazuya Uesugi fought his way back, gradually retreating to the outside of the cave. He looked around and spotted the rope Lei Tao and his companions had left behind when they had rappelled down into the cave. He was now at the end of his rope, with no other choice but to desperately grab the rope and begin climbing.

Liu Zishan chased him out of the cave, watching Uesuga Kazuya climbing. With a frantic heart, he fired repeatedly at him. But Uesuga Kazuya was agile, using the ropes and the mountain's cover to skillfully dodge the bullets. Finally, he reached the summit and disappeared into the dense jungle. Liu Zishan gazed at the summit, filled with resentment, yet powerless to stop him. He could only watch as Uesuga Kazuya escaped once more.
