The Mysterious Soldier of the Anti-Japanese War

Chapter 344 Desperate Counterattack

Chapter 344 Desperate Counterattack

Lei Tao and Xu Keming had just finished dealing with the troublesome ninja when the sound of intense gunfire rang out from deep within the cave. The two exchanged glances and ran towards the area where the gunfire was most intense.

Meanwhile, the rescue team led by Zheng Cheng successfully killed Mu Tengcunshu and rescued the young hostage. Zheng Cheng arranged for some of his team members to escort the hostages and injured teammates to evacuate.

After making all the arrangements, Zheng Cheng led the remaining team members and rushed towards the direction where the "Netherworld" team was fighting.

On the "Netherworld" team's side, Chen Feiyang, Liu Zishan, Li Shuiniu, Li Shuiyang, and their companions engaged in a bitter battle deep within a cave with an elite operative squad led by Shangshan Heye and hundreds of bandits led by Zhu Erba. The cave's narrow space, while not conducive to large-scale combat, also made the battle more intense and stalemate.

Kazuya Uesugi's elite operatives were well-trained, utilizing the cave's cover to shift positions and advance. They divided into small groups, with one group drawing fire while another quickly moved to a more advantageous position to launch an attack. Zhu Erba's bandits, though numerous, were mostly inexperienced in combat. Relying solely on brute force, they rushed towards the "Netherworld" squad at Zhu Erba's command.

Inside the cave, Chen Feiyang, Liu Zishan, Li Shuiniu, and Li Shuyang of the "Underworld" team, using the cave's rocky shelter, engaged in a fierce battle with an elite special forces squad led by Shangshan Kazuya and hundreds of bandits led by Zhu Erba. The space was cramped, and the torchlight cast flickering shadows on the rough walls, creating a sense of unease.

One of Kazuya Uesugi's elite agents hid behind a boulder, firing continuously at the "Ghost" team to draw their fire. Meanwhile, another group crouched, using scattered rocks as cover as they quickly moved to a raised rock on the left. One of the agents knelt on one knee, raised his rifle, and aimed at Chen Feiyang. With a "bang," the bullet grazed the corner of Chen Feiyang's shirt.

Zhu Erba yelled at the top of his lungs, "Everyone, charge! Capture them and there's a reward!" Though his bandits were numerous, most were untrained. At the command, a group of them, shouting and armed with a variety of weapons, from worn rifles to broadswords, rushed toward the "Ghost" squad. Their steps were chaotic, and some stumbled over rocks and fell flat on their faces. They climbed up, cursing and swearing, and continued their charge.

Chen Feiyang crouched low, poked his head out from behind a stone pillar, and, raising his submachine gun, he blasted the leading bandits, instantly falling to the ground. Liu Zishan, using the hollows in the cave's rock wall as cover, quickly reloaded his magazine, leaned forward, and fired a precise burst. A Japanese agent seeking cover was struck in the chest and fell to the ground, dead.

Brothers Li Shuei Niu and Li Shuei Yang worked in perfect harmony. Li Shuei Niu crouched low, scurried to a fallen stalagmite, and, with his Thompson submachine gun in hand, he began firing into the area where the bandits were concentrated, suppressing the enemy's advance. Li Shuei Yang, vigilantly watching his surroundings, suddenly spotted several agents quietly closing in from the right. He shouted, "Shuei Niu, enemies to the right!" He turned and fired, forcing the agents to retreat behind cover.

Li Shuiniu, hearing his brother's warning, turned immediately, his Thompson submachine gun blazing as he fired at the outflanking agents on his right. Bullets struck the bunker in front of them, sending up a shower of stone chips. One agent, unable to dodge, was struck in the head by a fragment of stone and fell in a pool of blood.
