Chapter 1802: The Actual Reason (Part 2)
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
The rift trembled, distorting Sano and Natta’s figures before they turned into two flashes that vanished into the rift at tremendous speed.
This wasn’t the real Void Transit, or rather, not its main body, but it showed Adam how this method worked.
At first, Adam had thought the Void Transit was simply a more advanced teleportation system of the Spires or the Detached Mountains, with their spatial anomalies.
But that wasn’t the case. Now he understood. The Void Transit worked differently. To some extent, it was much simpler than the teleports but at the same time far more dangerous.
"They went to the actual Void Transit, right?" Adam asked, looking at Farla.
Farla nodded deeply and gestured toward the rift.
"We call them the Void Routes. Such rifts are found in several places within the Citadel, but only at the First Ring. As you saw, it wasn’t a teleport, but rather a significant acceleration, so powerful that even their bodies become distorted."
Silvana narrowed her eyes, staring intently at the rift.
"Isn’t that dangerous?"
"Of course it is," Farla replied quickly. "That’s exactly why, if those two were at the K3-Level, I wouldn’t have let them even come in here. Their bodies simply wouldn’t have withstood the pressure, but at the K4-Level, they have enough strength for it."
Adam looked up. "But that’s only because it’s a short route, isn’t it?"
"Yes. If Sano and Natta had to go to the Deep Ring or even the Middle Ring, by the time they reached their destination, their bodies would have been torn to pieces. You’re here because nothing will happen to you."
It would be logical to assume that Adam should now approach the rift and head toward the Void Transit, but he knew there was something else going on here.
"You sent them first, not just to show me how the Void Route works, did you?"
For a moment, a sly smirk appeared on Farla’s face before her cold expression returned.
"I wanted to talk to you, Adam Vinter. You’re working with Aiden Henk, and that’s a dangerous path you’ve chosen." She narrowed her eyes, staring intently at Adam. Every single emotion on his face, no matter how slight, mattered to her.
Strangely enough, Adam just shrugged.
"Huh, you think I don’t know that? I’m sure that even if you weren’t aware of my history before, you checked everything about me before the meeting. Aiden isn’t my friend, and I can hardly call him my ally. But I have to create the Third Grand Star. For that, I need his help."
Farla stared at Adam with a piercing gaze for a moment. It was true. For someone with her powers, it was no trouble to find out practically everything about Adam.
"So, you want to become stronger, and nothing else binds you to Aiden Henk?"
Adam shrugged.
"Something like that. Whether I want to or not, I’m only here because of his actions. I’m not talking about the Void Transit, but about the fact that I’m a K4-Phantom. He’s an important figure in my story, but only recently has he stopped being a villain to me."
"I see. I decided to talk to you about this because Aiden Henk is different from everyone you’ve ever met or will ever meet."
"Hmm?"
A shadow fell over Farla, making her blue eyes particularly bright.
"Even I, an officer of the Gamma Division, a person who knows far more about this world than you do and has lived for hundreds of years, don’t know what kind of man Aiden Henk really is. I swear by my name, Adam, finding out even a shred of the truth about him is harder than it is with the Second Rank Phantoms."
A few moments later, Adam nodded deeply.
After visiting the Morton Observatory for the second time two years later, he understood this. Aiden wasn’t lying about everything, but he was definitely hiding a lot.
Farla’s words were yet another confirmation of this. Moreover, it also pointed to the level of secrets Aiden was hiding.
’Huh, she’s right. Even if Farla can’t find out anything, what about me? So far, I have very few connections.’
True, even though Adam was a K4-Phantom and intended to become even stronger in the near future, he knew very few powerful people.
Of all the Second Rank Phantoms, if necessary, he could only turn to Damien for help, and now, perhaps, Gladius. Everyone else was out of his reach.
"Don’t worry about me, Farla." Adam scratched the back of his head. "I know Aiden is dangerous, but I also can’t deny that he’s helped me before. If he wanted to get in my way somehow, he would’ve done it a long time ago."
"I see. In that case, let’s get started." Farla took a step back, pointing toward the Void Route. "Silvana, you’re first."
"Agh? Me?" She hadn’t expected this.
Tap.
Adam’s hand was on her back, pushing her forward.
"Don’t be afraid. You’re just as strong as I am!"
Silvana turned to the smiling Adam and nodded uncertainly.
"Just focus." Farla gave the instruction. "As soon as your energy stabilizes, you’ll feel a powerful pulse, like an electric shock. That means the Void Route is ready to take you in."
"Got it. I’ll try."
Step.
Silvana stepped forward as the purple energy coursed through the fragments. At that very moment, Silvana’s gaze filled with determination, and she strengthened her aura.
With a bright flash, Silvana’s frame trembled as she vanished into the light.
Adam’s gaze followed her before he nodded and stepped forward.
However, instead of using the Void Route, he approached Farla. It was clear from her expression that she had been expecting this.
"So, now that no one else is here, say what you want."
Adam’s gaze darkened, his brows furrowing.
"What does the Gamma Division want me to do at the Gary Sea?"
Farla’s face remained impassive. Her task was simple.
"Nothing special. You’ll just need to kill someone."
"Who?" Adam leaned in.
"A certain Baron. Once you learn more, you’ll agree, trust me."
