Chapter 99 Beach
Chapter 99 Beach
Distant mountains, sandy beaches, and golden and silver pools
Jin Xiaoyue hid near a sand dune, shook the sand off her hair, and sipped water slowly and carefully.
No supplies were provided for this exam; she had to rely entirely on the resources she brought with her. She made a makeshift water container out of leaves and scooped some water from the Golden Pool. She didn't care whether the water was clean or not; she figured that since the camels were drinking from it, it probably wouldn't kill her.
After suppressing the dryness and itchiness in her throat, Jin Xiaoyue handed the leaf bowl to Bai Hongxue, who was lying on the ground next to her. Bai Hongxue took it and gulped down a mouthful. Her movements were bold but she didn't spill a drop, and she didn't take too long. She then handed it to Meng Qiuhe, who was panting heavily.
"Ah, I'm alive again!" Bai Hongxue drank some water and finally regained her composure. She exclaimed and turned over to continue observing the situation near Jin Yin Tan.
"Glug glug—" Meng Qiuhe drank water while staring at the camels around the pool. After returning the empty leaf bowl to Jin Xiaoyue, he kicked his legs a few times on the sand. The soreness was still there. He hissed and stood up shakily.
"Damn it, what genius came up with the idea of hanging cards on camels?" He rubbed his numb legs and complained through gritted teeth.
"At least we got something, which is better than those who ran around for ages and still didn't get anything," Jin Xiaoyue comforted, spreading out the leaf bowl and putting it in her pocket. She then took out the scorecards she had grabbed. "Exactly nine points, three for each of us. Here you go."
"It's just a drop in the ocean," Bai Hongxue said.
“This can’t go on. Compared to camels in the desert, it’s a dead end. But we’re too weak to move, so we can only fight to the death here…” Meng Qiuhe said helplessly.
The three of them got off at the distant mountain beach. They got lost and then encountered a small sandstorm. Exhausted and thirsty, they were heartbroken when they saw the score card on the camel. They followed the camel to Jin Yin Tan to replenish their supplies and then found a few lone camels to steal their cards. Now they were almost out of energy, but their score was not very stable.
"So starting at the distant mountain beach is the most difficult part, right?" Bai Hongxue pressed her temples. "Yeah, it was a challenge for me."
Jin Xiaoyue blinked, looked at her palm, and beckoned with her finger.
Dengdeng said she has wood-type abilities, but apart from the ability to communicate with the fire tree, she has never actually used wood-type abilities. If she can use them here, maybe the problem can be solved.
but……
Jin Xiaoyue couldn't help but clench her fist.
But she can't use it now! Why?
What went wrong?
"Ugh! I don't want to think about it anymore! Let's just go for it! We'll lose anyway, so we might as well give it our all and get some points. At least we'll know why we're going to die!" Meng Qiuhe shook his head and stood up abruptly. "I'll go first. You guys can do whatever you want."
Before he finished speaking, he rushed out, his back view conveying a sense of determination.
"Pfft—" Bai Hongxue couldn't help but laugh out loud, "Pretty cool, huh?"
Bai Hongxue stood up, stretched, and loosened her wrists and ankles. "It's only been three hours. Instead of going to an unfamiliar new environment, we should spend the rest of the time here accumulating points. I'll go follow him and see how things go. Do you want to come?"
Jin Xiaoyue looked at the outstretched hand and took it without hesitation. "Go ahead."
It was just a weekly test, and the result was a little low... it's okay, right?
But things often turn out unexpectedly.
Although Meng Qiuhe avoided the camels' sight, the other camels discovered his presence. This time, they did not retreat but instead surrounded him.
"Oh no!" Meng Qiuhe exclaimed and tried to retreat, but the camels were charging fast. He barely managed to dodge one, but the other caught him off guard.
"Get out of the way!" Bai Hongxue arrived just in time, grabbed Meng Qiuhe's training uniform sleeve, and pulled him aside. Meng Qiuhe cried out "Ah!" Although he was only hit in the side, he still cried out in pain.
"Are these camels crazy?" Jin Xiaoyue stared in disbelief at the camels with red eyes and foaming at the mouth.
“Very likely, after all, we’re not the only ones here.” Bai Hongxue glanced at the examinees surrounded by other camels nearby.
"Get out of the way!" Jin Xiaoyue couldn't help but warn another unfamiliar examinee who was rushing past.
"Idiot! You're still thinking about getting your card at a time like this?!" Meng Qiuhe rubbed his side and frowned.
Bai Hongxue protected the two as they retreated, saying, "Don't worry about the others for now, let's break out of the encirclement first."
monitoring room.
"Are you sure there's no problem?" Wang Xiang, the examiner in charge of monitoring the test at Yuanshan Beach, asked upon seeing this scene.
"No one will die," his partner Lin Qiuyu replied calmly.
"No way? The standards have been lowered this much!" Wang Xiang scratched his head.
"Shut up, there's a safety car here," Lin Qiuyu replied impatiently.
Wang Xiang stopped talking, feeling somewhat unable to bear watching the candidates being attacked by camels. He turned his gaze away and noticed He Feiquan at the door. "Lieutenant General! You've arrived?"
Lin Qiuyu stood up and saluted, "Lieutenant General He."
He Feiquan waved to them, "It's alright, I just came to check on things."
After speaking, He Feiquan found a chair and sat down, observing the numerous flight monitoring angles of the distant mountains and beaches. He noticed a camel with strange movements and a candidate riding on it.
The lone camel never expected that it would encounter humans while quietly ruminating in a secluded spot.
Chu Deng turned around and mounted the camel, using it as a means of transportation.
This camel looked a bit dull, but it was actually quite clever. After Chu Deng mounted it, it started striding forward, as if it knew where Chu Deng was going.
How come this human is all alone, just like me? Oh well, I'll send her to find her kind. The camel chewed on its food while sniffing the water. It knew that many humans gathered at the water source, including its own kind. It could find their kind by following the direction of the water.
"Interesting," Chu Deng said in a low voice, patting the camel beneath him. The camel tilted its head back, shook its hump, and then quickened its pace to run.
Soon after, Chu Deng saw rows of shadows in the distance.
"Why is it here again?" Meng Qiuhe breathed a sigh of relief. He had finally managed to rush out when he saw a dark shadow running wildly in the distance. Judging from its size, it was another camel.
"Why are they spitting on me?!" Bai Hongxue looked at her hand that she was using to cover her face with discomfort, shook it off in disgust, and felt very uncomfortable.
"Watch out!" Jin Xiaoyue saw the camel that Meng Qiuhe had turned to the right and was about to crash into him. Before she could pull him back, she kicked Meng Qiuhe in the butt.
"Ouch!" Meng Qiuhe darted forward a few meters to avoid the camel's charge, but his feet were pinned down by the sand, and he fell face down.
When he looked up with his face covered in sand, he heard the surprised voice of the person who had kicked him.
"Temperature!"
