Chapter 132 Argument
Chapter 132 Argument
After thanking Lin Liuyi, Li Mingyue began searching for ginseng.
However, such items are usually in the hands of wealthy families. Li Mingyue spent a lot of money to obtain a ten-year supply from a hunter.
Li Mingyue held the ginseng carefully, as if holding onto hope.
"Mingyue, what are you doing?" Mingyue's mother looked at her daughter carefully holding a box.
"Mother, this is the ginseng I finally managed to buy. I'm planning to use it to change your medicine."
"Oh dear, silly girl, ginseng is the best medicine, why would you want to change it? Are you afraid of being cheated? This is such a precious thing, let your mother keep it safe for you." Mingyue's mother reached out and took the box from Li Mingyue's hand.
"No, Mother, it's real medicine!" Li Mingyue didn't react for a moment. By the time she realized what was happening and explained, her mother had already taken the ginseng back to her room and hidden it.
"Mother, it's real medicine, the same kind I used to give you!" Her mother was heavily pregnant, so Li Mingyue couldn't force it.
No matter how she explained, her mother wouldn't listen, and Li Mingyue felt a sense of helplessness.
In the end, Li Mingyue couldn't go against her mother's wishes. She apologized to Lin Liuyi and said she wouldn't change it. Disappointed, she went to the shop.
She didn't expect that she would be even more annoyed after going to the shop.
"Li Zhuzi! Who let you come! Men, get him out of here!"
Li Mingyue's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. When did Li Zhuzi become a shop assistant?
"Chunya, who let him in? Tell him to get out!" How can your own sister boss people around like that? Why did she let him in?
"Cousin, my second uncle sent me! Second uncle, please put in a good word for me!" As soon as Li Mingyue showed this attitude, Li Zhuzi immediately brought up Li Lao Er.
“Mingyue, how can you talk like that! This is your cousin! Besides, I'm the one who asked him to come to the shop, and your mother agreed!” Li Lao Er looked at his daughter disapprovingly. Chun Ya appeared behind Li Lao Er and glanced helplessly at her older sister.
"I disagree! This is my shop, get him out! Do you even want to keep your business? Throw him out!"
Li Mingyue was filled with rage. Why could they so easily forgive that family? Why should she forgive that family?
Upon hearing Li Mingyue's words, the men looked at each other, unsure of what to do.
Li Lao Er's face turned red with anger. He pointed at Li Mingyue and cursed, "You little brat, you think you're all grown up now? Fine, since you're letting your cousin leave, then I'll leave too! Let's go to Zhuzi, your second uncle will take you with me!"
Li Mingyue sneered: "Father, don't forget, I built this shop from scratch. Without me, there would be no shop today. Since you're so willing to go with him, fine, then you don't need to get involved in this shop anymore."
Li Lao Er was stunned. He hadn't expected his daughter to be so resolute and actually let him go.
With a cold face, he left with Li Zhuzi, saying, "Mingyue, you'll regret this!"
After Li Mingyue angrily kicked his father and cousin out of the shop, she felt somewhat lost.
She didn't know if what she was doing was right or wrong, but when she thought about what Li Zhuzi's family had done in the past, and how easily her parents accepted them, she felt wronged and angry.
"Big sister, this is a new osmanthus cake. Why don't you try it? Father was just temporarily misled by that Li Zhuzi. Big sister, don't be angry. He'll be fine once he's figured things out!" Seeing that the atmosphere was not right, Chunya quickly brought over the freshly baked cake and tried to persuade Li Mingyue.
Li Mingyue remained silent, suppressing her grievances. She picked up a piece of pastry, took a bite, and the sweetness spread on her tongue, but the bitterness in her heart was hard to dispel.
"That's great, let's launch the new products."
She composed herself and wiped away her tears.
She wasn't angry; she wanted to make a lot of money and do business well.
However, everyone tacitly kept quiet about what happened at the shop today, since her mother was pregnant.
After a long day, Li Mingyue returned home and, as soon as she stepped through the door, said, "Mom, what happened to you today..."
Just as Li Mingyue was about to ask her mother how she was feeling today, a teacup flew towards her. She turned her head, and the teacup smashed into a pillar in the living room.
"Mom, you hit me?"
"Don't call me mother! I don't have a daughter like you! How could you kick your father out in front of so many people in the shop without my knowledge! If your cousin hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known you were so powerful. Mingyue, do you even respect us as your parents?" Mingyue's mother clutched her chest in anger.
Li Mingyue stared wide-eyed at her mother in disbelief. "Mother, you only see that I drove Father away, but have you ever thought about why I did it? Have you forgotten how Li Zhuzi's family used to bully me and you?"
Mingyue Niang snorted, "That's all in the past. Zhuzi has learned his lesson now, and besides, we're family, why bother with so much?"
Li Mingyue smiled bitterly, "Family? What kind of family is he? Mother, we are the real family! When we were fleeing the famine, they abandoned us because I was sick. They demanded money to separate from us and sever ties. Now that we are a family living well, why should I agree just because they come to us?"
“Mingyue, I know you resent this matter. But you have to think about the future. You sisters are all weak women, and your younger brother will still be young when he is born. How can you manage without a brother to help you? Your grandparents are the ones who did wrong. Your brother Zhuzi is still young. How can you take your anger out on him? He is also your brother!” Mingyue’s mother began to persuade her earnestly.
“Brother, it’s always ‘brother’! What kind of brother is he! Mother, you’re just worried about my brother. I promise that I’ll leave a portion of the money we earn from the shop for him to study and raise him to adulthood. Is that alright? Mother, am I not more reliable than Li Zhuzi?”
Mingyue's mother was speechless for a moment, but still stubbornly said, "Mingyue, that's not what I meant. Since you don't like Li Zhuzi, then let's just forget about it."
After persuading her mother to return to her room, Li Mingyue sat on a stool, feeling utterly exhausted.
After she found out about this, she feared that peace would never return to her family, and her father had stopped speaking to her recently.
She also knew that her father had stopped doing his old job and was now focused on finding work for Li Zhuzi.
But she didn't regret what she did today. That shop was her hard-earned business, why should she let them interfere? Why should she leave an annoying person in front of her?
Let her dad be angry, she believes he will understand her eventually.
Li Mingyue sighed. Sure enough, that family was a troublemaker; nothing good ever came of running into them.
