Chapter 319: It's Not Up to You
Chapter 319: It's Not Up to You
People around the world have noticed armed patrols on city streets and rural roads. There is no longer any discussion or information about "gods" in newspapers or on television, and no information about "gods" can be found online. Even the videos of the holographic giant screens in major cities on August 22nd and 23rd are no longer available online. Searching for keywords such as "gods," court trials, and bracelets online is automatically blocked, and similar posts cannot pass the background review. Many websites have been shut down, and online television media are filled with news posts and videos about alien abductions and dissections of Earthlings.
At 3:00 PM Washington time on August 27th, the designated time for the assembled heads of state and dignitaries of the countries mentioned by "the Gods," not a single person appeared at the United Nations Conference Center. At this designated time, over two hundred heads of state from around the world simultaneously delivered televised addresses to their respective nations, strongly condemning "the Gods" for interfering in the internal affairs of humanity, pointing out that "the Gods" had no right to judge any human leaders, and calling on everyone to resist the ideological transformation imposed on humanity by "the Gods" for the sake of human dignity, to avoid brainwashing or enslavement. They also pointed out that "the Gods," Ye Wangzhou, and other aliens, disguised in human bodies, were seeking human validation, and that these aliens had already abducted and dissected humans many years ago. All the heads of state's speeches were identical, consisting entirely of accusations and expressions of dissatisfaction regarding the alien invasion by "the Gods."
"No matter how powerful the enemy, we must uphold the independence and freedom of humankind. Ladies and gentlemen, reclaim your human dignity and say no to alien invaders." This last paragraph in the speeches of the world leaders was very emotional.
Inspired by the speeches of world leaders, demonstrations and protests erupted in major cities worldwide, with slogans such as "Expel the aliens!", "Aliens, go back to your home planet!", and "We vow to defend the free will of human civilization and human dignity to the death!" Humanity's resistance to the "gods" rapidly surged.
The security measures taken by various countries for these named heads of state and dignitaries are unprecedented. For example, President Pushkin and other dignitaries of Country R are all hiding in a nuclear bunker more than 2,000 meters underground. The air, ground, and underground security forces are like an impregnable fortress, and not even a small bird can fly into the restricted area.
These heads of state and high-ranking officials think, "If you can't find me or catch me, how can you judge me?"
Government leaders and ordinary people around the world are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the 28th, because 8:00 AM Washington time on the 28th is the time for the "Heavenly Court" to try the heads of state and dignitaries of the countries whose names have been mentioned.
What's meant to happen will happen.
At midnight on August 27th, Moscow time, in an underground nuclear bunker somewhere in Moscow, four agents stood guard outside the door of President Pushkin's south-facing room. Further out, twenty armed soldiers stood in two rows, about fifty meters away. Six armored vehicles were deployed, with machine guns mounted on them. Two of the machine guns were pointed towards the door, two had their muzzles facing away from the door, and the other two were facing east and west respectively.
Inside the room, President Pushkin lay in bed, unable to sleep. He kept raising his hand to check his watch, then staring at the ceiling, trying to recall if he had made any mistakes or errors during his nine years in power.
"No matter what, everything I do is for the country and the people!" Pushis roared in his heart.
Suddenly, the heavy steel door of the room crashed to the ground. Pushis leaped out of bed, gun in hand pointing towards the door. Before he could pull the trigger, a figure flashed before his eyes, and the pistol he was clutching was snatched away. A golden "light handcuff" bound his hands. Looking up, he saw two very realistic robots standing beside him. One robot said, "President Pushis, according to the laws of the Earth Empire, we are now arresting you. You have the right to defend yourself at the trial in the Imperial Court."
After saying that, the two robots escorted President Pushes outside. Once outside, Pushes saw four agents and more than twenty soldiers lying on the ground, but they were unconscious and had no bleeding or external injuries. The six armored vehicles were torn to pieces, with wreckage everywhere.
Two robots held Psyst up, and he only saw a flash of light above his head before losing consciousness.
When Psys awoke in a daze, he was startled.
A huge room, opposite which are rows of square, glowing "light grids" forming "houses". Above each "light house" floats another "light house", making a total of six floors of "light houses".
Although these "light rooms" emitted light, they were transparent. Pushis saw a man imprisoned in the "light room" opposite him. He recognized the man; it was Iraqi, the president of his ally, Country I. Iraqi was wearing "light handcuffs" just like him.
Puxis looked to his left and right, and saw rows of transparent "light rooms". He looked up and saw five "light rooms" above him.
The two rows of "light rooms" are five meters apart, each "light room" is two meters high, and each "light room" is about nine square meters in area. Between the two rows of "light rooms" there seems to be a passageway.
These "light rooms" held many heads of state and important officials he knew well; he knew they were people chosen by the "gods." However, the two "light rooms" right next to his right were empty.
Those people opposite seemed to be looking at him. Psys saw Irafi open his mouth, but he couldn't hear what he was saying. Psys took a few steps closer and saw a look of terror on Irafi's face. Irafi pointed at the "wall of light" with both fingers, then violently waved his hands and shook his head. Psys knew Irafi was warning him not to approach the "wall of light." Psys nodded to Irafi and stopped half a meter away from the "wall of light." Although he knew Irafi couldn't hear him, he still shouted loudly to those opposite, "Irafi, thank you."
Across from him, Irafi gestured towards his ear with his hand, then waved his hand to indicate that he couldn't hear him.
Psys turned and stood up, then slowly gestured in the air with his hands to spell out "THANK YOU" in English. Then Psys turned around and saw Irafi smile. He smiled back, but his smile was bitter.
Suddenly, Pushis felt a flash of light on his right. He turned around and saw a person in the "light room" next to his right. This person had big eyebrows and big eyes, and was very strong. Pushis knew that he was Chairman Long of Country C. Chairman Long seemed to be surprised when he saw Pushis. Then the two looked at each other and smiled.
A minute later, Pushis saw another flash of light on his right, and next to Chairman Long's "light room" appeared the current president of Country M, Powert. What was going on? Wasn't Powert not on the list? How come he was also "arrested"?
Power saw Chairman Long and Pushis, and his expression seemed somewhat awkward as he shrugged.
When Pushis saw Chairman Long stand up and close his eyes, he looked at Powered, who was sitting on the ground with his eyes closed. So Pushis slowly sat down, then lay down on the ground and closed his eyes.
In a daze, Pushis heard a few crackling sounds. Pushis sprang to his feet and saw a man next to Irafi on the opposite side of the wall of light, his body crackling. The man had a ferocious expression on his face, and his eyes seemed to bulge out. Soon after, smoke began to rise from his body.
Seeing this horrific scene, everyone awakened in the "House of Light" was filled with terror. Heavy footsteps echoed in the distance, and two lifelike robots appeared. These two robots walked directly into the man's "House of Light," and surprisingly, one robot, disregarding the power of the "Light Wall," passed right through it.
The robot that entered the "wall of light" extended its robotic arm, and a wasp-like insect flew out. The wasp's head emitted light, which enveloped the man's head before circling his brain. After circling, a probe extended from the wasp's mouth and pierced the man's arm. Pusis saw red blood flow into the tube, the probe retracted, and the wasp flew back into the robot's arm. The robot then withdrew its arm and silently watched the man still leaning against the "wall of light."
The man's body withered and shrank. Pushis saw that half of the man's body had vaporized and disappeared, while his other hand reached out to the robot, seemingly pleading for help. The robot stood coldly, watching the man's body vanish without a trace. Although Pushis, Chairman Long, Powert, and the others were all powerful figures, they still couldn't help but tremble at the sight of the man's flesh being vaporized alive by the "wall of light."
The man's body was completely vaporized in about five minutes.
The robot in the "light room" passed through the "light wall" and left side by side with another robot. The two robots didn't even glance at the humans in the "light rooms" on either side as they passed by.
Looking at the empty "room of light," everyone felt a pang of regret and sorrow, but also a touch of contempt; only a coward would commit suicide. But the man was already free, they thought.
As everyone was marveling at the scene and speculating about tomorrow's trial, heavy footsteps echoed in the distance. It was the same two robots again. What terrified everyone was that, as if seeing a ghost, each robot was carrying the man who had just been vaporized, one arm of each robot. The man's face was filled with terror as he kicked and struggled. Everyone noticed that this man not only had "light handcuffs" on his hands, but also larger "light handcuffs" on his feet.
The two robots, still coldly ignoring the crowd, carried the man directly to the "light room" where "he" had been imprisoned. One robot held the man in its arms, and in a flash, the robots and the man were inside the "light room." The robots placed the man down, then passed through the "light wall," and the two robots left. The crowd stared at the man in terror. The man looked at the "light room" with fear, and Psys saw his body trembling. The man tried to take a step, but couldn't. The "light shackles" on his legs brightened. The man looked at Psys, smiled bitterly, slowly bent his knees, then struggled to sit on the ground, and then slowly lay down.
Looking at the identical man whose body had recently vaporized but was now lying perfectly fine, Prusis plopped down on the ground, fear flashing in his eyes, because he remembered what the "god" had said: Even if you commit suicide, you will be resurrected and continue to be judged by the Imperial Court!
