Chapter 9: A Solution to the Impasse

Chapter 9: A Solution to the Impasse

Around one million years ago, ancient giants, genetically modified by Martian civilization, evolved further. Men developed a third eye, while women used it for reproduction. Later, the function of the third eye in men was further enhanced; when open, it allowed them to perceive the world and possess precognitive and communicative abilities. 100 years ago, the first human civilization, the Gendaya civilization, finally emerged on the continent of Gendaya. Gendaya men had a third eye about three centimeters above the center of their foreheads. The third eye varied in color among different tribes, including gray, green, black, purple, and yellow. For survival, the various tribes of the Gendaya civilization were constantly at war. They used their third eye as a weapon, able to briefly foresee the future and assess the situation. Incredibly, Gendaya men learned to tame wild beasts such as lions, tigers, and wolves. Over time, each tribe acquired an army of wild beasts, relying primarily on them for warfare and mutual slaughter. To prevent humanity from recklessly harming itself and wasting vast amounts of energy and time on internal strife, on a full moon night, the wolves received a mysterious spiritual revelation and guidance. They finally awakened and began to hunt down the Gendaya civilization. For the sake of human survival, the various tribes were forced to unite and exterminate the wolves. After 74 years of civil war and human-wolf conflict, the Gendaya civilization's population plummeted, while the wolf population multiplied rapidly. Humans were forced to retreat back into caves, and ultimately, the civilization was destroyed by starvation.

Some surviving Gendayas drifted and managed to escape to the Fertile Crescent (the Mesopotamian plain between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers), where they intermingled with the local inhabitants, eventually giving rise to the Mesopotamian civilization (also known as the Tigris-Euphrates civilization). Early tribes constantly waged war, eventually establishing kingdoms and empires at different times to defend against foreign invasions, such as those by the Akkadians, Old Babylonians, Hittites, and Assyrians. The Fertile Crescent endured countless wars. Because the Fertile Crescent plain was easily attacked but difficult to defend, it was ultimately destroyed by fire from the Persians.

The third human civilization on Earth, the Mu civilization, was a civilization that emphasized spiritual cultivation. Inspired by a mysterious force, the Mu people invented an energy crystal that could absorb the essence of nature. The Mu people surrounded towering trees, burying the energy crystal beneath the roots and digging deep caves around them. They lived in these caves, meditating and contemplating philosophical truths. The crystal-enhanced tree roots absorbed the essence of the sun and moon, providing the Mu people with natural energy and spiritual power for their spiritual practice. Later, as the ocean ice melted and sea levels rose, the Mu people, through their enlightenment, invented ships. They used various vessels to leave their continent, crossing oceans to migrate to the edges of other continents. A long war ensued between the Mu people and the local inhabitants for the right to inhabit the continents, ultimately leading to the Mu people's annihilation.

The fourth human civilization on Earth, the Atlantean civilization, originally inhabited a beautiful continent. The Atlanteans were extremely intelligent, inventing various advanced machines and equipment for resource extraction, such as producing gold and silver. All the palaces of emperors and nobles were magnificent, surrounded by walls of gold and silver. The Atlanteans also built countless temples, shrines, and enormous altars for sacrifices, praying for revelation and inspiration from the "gods." As time passed, a certain Atlantean king believed that with his growing power, he needed to expand his territory beyond the continent. Thus, coastal docks and ports were built, and warships and transport ships were constructed. One year, the king launched a war to conquer the world. The brutal war finally angered the "gods," who believed that the Atlanteans had broken the promises they made during their sacrifices at the altars. A year after the war, a giant fireball fell from the sky and crashed onto the continent. The powerful earthquake triggered a massive tsunami, with the resulting wave walls reaching several kilometers in height. The continent of Atlantis was submerged and sank to the bottom of the sea, and the Atlantean civilization vanished.

The third human civilization, the Lemurian civilization, before its demise, saw the Lemurs, who had traveled further afield, begin to form societies with other modern apes, completely forgetting who they were. One such migrating tribe, the Sumerians, settled in the Middle East and, many years later, evolved into the Egyptian culture. Egyptian culture marks the beginning of the fifth human civilization on Earth.

The fifth human civilization, the current Earth civilization, is an emotional civilization. This civilization is rich in emotions and has complex inner thoughts. Its architectural and mechanical manufacturing capabilities are also superb. Of course, this manufacturing capability originated from the inspiration of the Egyptian pyramids.

The fifth human civilization's overall genetic makeup was further refined, and its capabilities were greatly enhanced. Its unique culture and art added both preservatives and catalysts to its mechanical civilization. Like all civilizations, before reaching a highly advanced stage, the various groups within the fifth human civilization engaged in countless wars, eventually establishing nations. These nations, vying for various rights, mutually deterred and balanced each other, ultimately leading to the First and Second World Wars. Perhaps unlike the previous four civilizations, they have traveled far, for example, sending fleets to the edge of the solar system to explore the "barrier."

However, the numerous warship wrecks floating in space not far from the moon seem to be a reminder to humanity that you will ultimately not be able to leave this solar system!

The Earth Federation fleet is busy again, with various warships continuing to be built overnight.

To conserve its strength, the Earth Federation Fleet Command ordered a fleet of 200 cruiser carriers to fly to Mars and remain in geosynchronous orbit. The remaining 600-plus cruiser carriers were dispersed at a distance in near-Earth orbit to avoid concentrated attacks and destruction.

At the Earth Federation Academy of Sciences, the conference center was already filled with excitement, and the sounds of debate were incessant.

"Academician Solo, you suggest that all 600+ cruiser carriers in Earth orbit disperse to surround the moon, and then concentrate their firepower to launch a fierce attack on the moon? Good heavens, is Gaia on the moon stupid? Do you think it only has one flying saucer that can release light nets? What if there are many light nets? Wouldn't that mean total annihilation?"

"Academician Gongjing, optical networks are so powerful, do you think it's easy to create them? Gaia may not have that many optical networks."

"I don't think we should bet on the assumption that there's a shortage of optical networks. Even without optical networks, who knows what other powerful weapons Gaia might have!"

"If Gaia has other powerful weapons, doesn't that mean humanity is doomed? Rather than wait to die, we'd rather die fighting!"

"I'm not afraid of death, I just think we should reconsider and consider other options. A fearless sacrifice is heroic, but a pointless sacrifice is foolish."

"Everyone, please be quiet and listen to me," Zhou Yuan interrupted.

"Academician Mei, how is the high-energy particle collider progressing?" Zhou Yuan turned his gaze to Mei Fan. Twenty-five years had passed, and thanks to life sciences, the average human lifespan had increased to 125 years. Although Mei Fan was nearly 80, he looked like he was 65, while Zhou Yuan, nearly 60, looked like he was 45.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to report on our recent work. The six high-speed particle colliders have achieved significant results. With the help of the super coolant helium-3, we discovered the Higgs boson a year ago. A week ago, in order to verify a certain theory, we deliberately caused a predictable consequence in one of the colliders. That is, we created a black hole (wormhole?) that lasted for about ten minutes. Because it was done in space, it did not have any impact on the Earth."

"A man-made black hole?" Everyone was somewhat surprised.

"Yes, artificial black holes. I understand what Dean Zhou means. Dean Zhou, are you considering using artificial black holes to counter Gaia?"

"Yes, that's exactly what I meant. What are your thoughts?"

"Hmm, that's a good idea." Everyone discussed among themselves.

"Everyone, after these few days of calculations, we believe that only 12 artificial black holes are needed to destroy the moon," Mei Fan further explained. "Dean Zhou should have already reported this to the Earth Federation Fleet. The Federation Fleet is secretly building about 15 high-energy particle colliders in the moon's near-Earth orbit. Strangely, Gaia on the moon hasn't detected them."

"Academician Mei, everyone, I must remind you that it's not that Gaia didn't discover it; it's very likely that she didn't care!" Zhou Yuan hurriedly corrected him. Everyone's hearts tightened.

“However, this is also a plan. We need to prepare for multiple options, and the more feasible plans the better.” Zhou Yuan sat steadily in the floating chair at the center of the fan-shaped conference center.

He turned his gaze to the left front. "Johnson, how's the replicator project going?"

"The construction and control of the replicants have achieved ideal results. If mass production were to begin now, we could create approximately 1 million replicants within a month. These replicants consume metal, using it as food to reproduce. If desired, we could program them, granting them the ability to rapidly evolve. There's no need to worry; we will have absolute control over the replicants, just like with human genes. We have implanted a fundamental secret protocol within them, so that if they threaten the safety of humanity on Earth, they will self-destruct or kill each other. Of course, we humans can also remotely control them to self-destruct or render them incapacitated."

"Alright, the Earth Federation Fleet has approved the Replicator Project as a supplement to the Artificial Black Hole Project. Johnson, expedite the mass production of primary replicators, but do not endow them with evolutionary capabilities. If the Artificial Black Hole Project fails, we will deploy it to the moon."

"Yes, Dean."

"Everyone seems to be looking for ways to fight Gaia on the moon, so why not start by communicating with it?" a clear voice rang out.
