Chapter 224 The Resurrected Skeleton
Chapter 224 The Resurrected Skeleton
Mo Ming muttered to himself, things were not quite what he had imagined.
I took out the analyzer and scanned the box, but all I got were question marks.
Left with no other choice, Mo Ming could only poke around with the Demon-Suppressing Sword a couple of times to make sure there was no danger before reaching out to open the box.
However, just as his fingertips were about to touch the box, an accident occurred...
A sudden, bone-chilling cold swept over him, and Mo Ming quickly withdrew his hand. He whirled around, using the luminous jade to illuminate the battlefield behind him, where large swaths of white energy, visible to the naked eye, were billowing out from the surrounding ruins.
These air currents, like snakes, coiled around the surrounding buildings and ground, gradually merging into the scattered bones on the battlefield. As the air currents passed over them, the bones, which should have weathered away, suddenly trembled slightly, as if awakening from a deep slumber.
"Damn it!" Mo Ming exclaimed, raising his bronze demon-suppressing sword and immediately assuming a defensive stance. He watched helplessly as the bones on the ground began to piece themselves back together, and moments later, the skeleton warriors stood up.
These skeletons were all armed; some had picked up spears, some dragged rusty blades, and some were even bare-handed, their bony fingers flashing with a chilling white light from the cracks.
A ghostly green flame ignited in their hollow eye sockets; the flame contained no warmth, only coldness and brutality.
Rusty fragments of armor clung to the skeleton warriors, their cracks and damage revealing countless battles they had fought in their lives. Their bones cracked and clattered, a sound that echoed sharply in the silent battlefield, sending a chill down one's spine.
The sheer number of bone warriors was chilling.
As wisps of white mist surged in, skeletons rose from every corner of the ruins. They moved silently and angrily towards each other, slowly forming loose encirclements that surrounded Mo Ming and Xiong Da.
Mo Ming stared intently at the approaching skeletal warriors, a cold smile playing on his lips. "Things are indeed not that simple!"
After saying that, he quickly put the black box into his spatial ring, and suddenly swung the Demon-Suppressing Sword, instantly cutting the nearby skeletons into pieces.
With a low roar, Xiong Da pounced forward, smashing through a pile of bones with his massive body.
It swung its bear paws, smashing several skeletons to pieces, but the shattered bones quickly reassembled themselves at a visible speed under the influence of the white aura, rising again to attack it.
Mo Ming quickly discovered that although these skeleton warriors were physically fragile, they had become virtually immortal after being revived by the evil energy. Even if they were shattered, they would still stand up, and even become more frenzied.
The battle intensified, with the skeletons brandishing rusty spears and viciously thrusting at Mo Ming. Mo Ming was agile; after the transformation induced by the Cleansing Marrow Pill and the tempering of the Eight Martial Bronze Men Formation, he had completely transformed.
Even against opponents of similar skill level, such as Liu Heng, they would not be intimidated.
He swung his demon-suppressing sword, cleaving the surrounding skeletons into pieces. But even shattering their heads couldn't completely stop them from resurrecting.
Big Bear slammed its massive paw into the ground, sending shards of rock flying and unleashing a powerful shockwave that sent all the surrounding skeleton warriors flying away in one go.
However, this stalemate did not last long, as more skeletons emerged from the surrounding ruins, their numbers almost infinite.
"Damn it, we can't kill all these guys!" Mo Ming roared. "We have to deal with the thing that's releasing the white gas."
Mo Ming turned around and roared in the direction of the giant bear, "Big Bear, go find the source of the white aura and destroy it!"
......
Not only Mo Ming is facing a crisis, but everyone else is also embroiled in trouble.
After Liu Heng stepped into the "Surprise" passage, he felt an endless tension permeating the passage, a suppressed metallic aura filled the air, and he could faintly hear the low rumble of thunder.
The surrounding walls are covered with many grotesque lightning marks, as if countless terrifying forces had erupted here, leaving behind charred traces.
As Liu Heng ventured deeper, the stone slabs beneath his feet began to make a cracking sound, as if they might break at any moment.
A bone-chilling cold surged continuously from underground, while flickering blue and white lightning illuminated the depths of the passage—thunder—the son of the sky, composed of anger and destruction.
As they stepped across the midpoint of the passage, the entire space suddenly trembled, and thunder coalesced into a tremendous roar.
Dark cracks appeared in the ground, from which lightning bolts shot out wildly, shattering a stone slab beneath Liu Heng's feet. He leaped up swiftly, and the moment he landed, an angry howl echoed behind him—arcs of lightning coalesced into a gigantic thunder beast resembling a wolf king.
The Thunder Beast was entirely composed of blue and white lightning, its body semi-transparent, its eyes flashing with a chilling light. Its steps were swift and powerful, each landing accompanied by a thunderous roar. The Snow Wolf King growled as it confronted the Thunder Beast, but this beast possessed not only the agility of a snow wolf but also the destructive power of lightning.
The Thunder Beast suddenly charged forward with lightning speed. Liu Heng raised his spear to block its charge, but the moment he touched it, a tingling sensation came from the spear as lightning invaded his arm.
Just as he hesitated slightly, the Thunder Beast opened its massive, crackling, electric maw and pounced down!
The Snow Wolf King roared and charged at the Thunder Beast, entangled with it in the lightning. As a Snow Wolf King of the Radiant Orange level, its combat power was in no way inferior to that of the Thunder Beast formed from lightning.
As the battle continued, Liu Heng felt the surrounding vibrations growing stronger.
These lightning bolts were not isolated; they seemed to be the power of the entire passage. Each time the lightning beast attacked, countless lightning runes on the walls would flash violently, as if they were strengthening the lightning beast with a will.
Liu Heng realized that he couldn't just tough it out in battle. He quickly looked around, trying to find the Thunder Beast's weakness.
Suddenly, he noticed that one of the lightning runes was noticeably darker than the others. He shouted and commanded the Snow Wolf King to restrain the Thunder Beast, then swung his full power at that rune.
......
Outside the entrance to the "Scenic" passage, there seem to be only dark stone walls, but once you step inside, it's as if a flowing scroll painting has been torn open before your eyes:
The passageway is filled with colorful light and shadow, and scenes of flowers, green grass, and flowing water are constantly changing on the ground and walls.
This is not a real natural scene, but a dreamlike image, yet it carries an indescribable beauty and falseness.
Sun Miaoke instantly felt a warm aura around her, yet she also sensed a lurking danger. This beauty didn't seem to be there to welcome intruders, but rather something that could lure them to linger and become infatuated, as if every corner of the place was a trap.
The further you walk through the passage, the more varied the scenery becomes. The flowers, birds, and trees are like lifelike paintings, while the spirit falcon cries out and flaps its wings a few times, seemingly extremely uneasy.
Sun Miaoke stopped in her tracks, only to find that a shimmering lake had appeared ahead of the passage. The lake's surface was as smooth as a mirror, reflecting the brilliance at the end of the passage, and melodious singing could be heard from it.
“Miao Ke…”
Suddenly, she heard her name being called.
