Chapter 156 Trap
Chapter 156 Trap
The journey back was as quiet as ever. After the car rounded a bend, Xu Ao immediately noticed that the lights at the government building were unusually bright, whereas usually there were only a few dim rays of light there.
"Stop, Chen Che." Xu Ao quickly called out. They were familiar with the road conditions and there were almost no people on the road, so for safety reasons, they did not turn on their headlights. Therefore, the light there was unusually bright.
"What's going on? Why is it suddenly so bright?" Chen Che also noticed something was wrong. It wasn't unusual for the lights to be on, but it was strange for a place that had always been dark to suddenly be as bright as day.
"Wait a minute and see what's going on." Xu Ao frowned, approached the car window, and leaned out to observe carefully.
The car was so quiet that they could hear each other's heartbeats. As the surroundings quieted down, they realized that, apart from the unusually bright lights, it was quite lively inside, with many shadowy figures visible.
"What are they doing? It feels like they're having a party," Chen Che muttered, his hands gripping the steering wheel and his upper body leaning on it.
Xu Ao didn't respond, his gaze fixed intently on the spot. Chen Che was right; laughter could be heard coming from inside, the tone languid, as if they were celebrating something.
Just as Xu Ao was filled with doubt, several abrupt screams suddenly came from inside the building, "Ah, help! Help!"
"You bunch of bastards! I'm not finished with you!"
"Ah, ah, stop hitting me! Stop hitting me!"
"It's them!" Chen Che and Xu Ao said almost simultaneously.
"They're making fun of them!" Chen Che said through gritted teeth. It was indeed wrong of those people to sneak in here to make a fortune, but their blatant abuse of Chinese people was a slap in the face!
"Chen Che, you drive and take the camera back first. I'll go find them," Xu Ao said, already opening the car door.
"No, they're just venting their personal grievances. If you go there now, aren't you just handing yourself over to them? That's their territory. If we don't catch them in the act of abusing our people, what can they do even if they deny it?"
"No matter what, we can't let them keep fighting like this. Sooner or later, someone will die. Our man is our man. Even if he's wrong, we should be the ones to punish him. It's not their place to lay a hand on him!"
After Xu Ao finished speaking, he got out of the car and slammed the door shut, cutting off Chen Che's attempts to stop him from entering the car.
Chen Che looked at his resolute back and then at the camera he had left in the passenger seat. After some hesitation, Chen Che stepped on the gas, and the car swerved beside Xu Ao and sped towards the embassy.
Chen Che looked at Xu Ao's figure in the rearview mirror, his forehead covered in sweat. He just hoped that Xu Ao could hold on a little longer, and they would definitely come to rescue him.
Xu Ao got out of the car just a few hundred meters from the government building. He jogged to the government gate and saw the mercenaries guarding him coming over in a hurry, all alone. They exchanged smiles, seemingly unsurprised by his arrival. Xu Ao had a bad feeling.
"You alone? Why didn't you bring your beautiful translator with you, haha~" When Xu Ao heard the mercenary mention Huang Meng in his English, his brows furrowed even deeper, and his eyes showed even more disgust.
"What are you doing?" Xu Ao didn't want to talk to them anymore and went straight to the point.
"Why don't you go in and see for yourself?" The mercenary looked at Xu Ao with a playful smile, then stepped aside to make way for him.
Xu Ao stared at the path leading into the building, his unease growing stronger. However, no matter what, he had come this far and there was no reason to turn back, whether out of morality or national dignity.
Xu Ao didn't say much, and walked forward. As he walked, mercenaries behind him whistled from time to time, and some shouted something in S language that he couldn't understand. Then he saw that at the end of the road, Saudi Arabia was standing on the steps in plain clothes, with his hands in his pockets, looking down at him with a cold smile on his face, as if looking at prey that had fallen into a trap.
"Welcome, my friend." It was broken English, but still understandable.
"How are our people doing?" Xu Ao asked directly, not wanting to waste time with pleasantries.
"Want to go in and take a look? Oh, they're so disobedient. You can help me persuade them." After saying that, Saudi Arabia turned to the side and gestured for them to enter, with a hypocritical smile on his face, just like the cunning fox in the fairy tale who tricks animals into believing him. It's just a pity that his acting skills were too clumsy.
Seeing the smile he was trying so hard to hide, Xu Ao guessed that he had probably fallen into their trap. All he could do now was wait and try to hold out until they arrived.
Xu Ao stepped onto the stairs with a calm expression. As he passed by Saudi Arabia, Xu Ao could even smell the blood on him. He wondered how those people had been tortured.
Xu Ao soon arrived at the lobby of the government building. The circular lobby was scattered with some tables and chairs, and the men were surrounded in the middle. As Xu Ao approached, the mercenaries consciously made way for him, with smug smiles on their faces. Xu Ao kept staring at them until he saw the men lying on the ground.
