Chapter 222 - 219: What an... Unfortunate Coincidence
By the time he chased after her, Clara Grant had already opened the door to the hospital room. Seth Quinn quickened his pace and caught her by the arm in the hallway.
"What is it?" Clara Grant looked at the hand gripping her arm, then up at Seth Quinn’s face, and asked.
Her expression was still a bit awkward from when Cherie had asked for a kiss earlier.
"You don’t need to go out of your way to find Dr. Linden. I know everything about Cherie’s condition, so you might as well just ask me," Seth Quinn said, not letting go of her arm.
’Rowan Linden has no idea Cherie is back in the hospital. Of course I can’t let her go find him. What if he lets something slip?’
Clara Grant was speechless. ’This man... is he a little too arrogant? Does he really think he’s qualified to act as a doctor, such a highly specialized profession?’
She tried to pull his hand away as she spoke. "Mr. Quinn, you may be the high and mighty CEO of Aegis, and you might be capable of anything in some matters, but you are not a doctor. When it comes to understanding a patient’s condition, you naturally can’t compare to one. So, if I want a complete picture of Cherie’s illness, I of course have to ask his attending physician."
"Don’t go. I don’t think Dr. Linden is at the hospital today," Seth Quinn lied, his expression calm. Seeing the doubt in Clara Grant’s eyes, he added, "It’s his day off."
"Really?" Clara Grant was starting to believe him. She sighed in disappointment. "That’s such a shame."
However, just as the words left her mouth, a pleasant and somewhat familiar male voice sounded from behind them. "Seth, what are you doing here?"
At the sound of the voice, Seth Quinn looked up and saw Rowan Linden walking toward them.
’What... bad timing!’
In the next moment, Rowan Linden had reached them. Clara Grant turned around and saw a face she didn’t recognize.
But it only took her two seconds to recognize him as Dr. Linden. She had only ever seen him wearing a mask before, but she recognized his eyes.
’Besides, he was wearing a white lab coat right now. Who else could it be but Dr. Linden?’
Clara Grant’s spirits lifted. She had just been disappointed that she wouldn’t be able to see Dr. Linden to get accurate information on Cherie’s condition, and then he’d appeared out of nowhere.
Rowan Linden’s attention, however, was focused on Seth Quinn, so he didn’t notice her right away.
Seth Quinn blinked once, his expression as calm as ever, and said, "I came to see Cherie."
"Cherie?" Rowan Linden asked, confused. "Didn’t you already take Cherie back..."
The word "home" was on the tip of his tongue when he heard a voice greet him, "Dr. Linden." He glanced down and finally noticed Clara Grant standing beside Seth Quinn.
"Miss... Grant?" Rowan Linden was quick on the uptake. He understood the situation immediately, shot a look at Seth Quinn, and then asked composedly, "Are you here to see Cherie? Did you wrap up filming?"
"Ah, not yet. I just squeezed in some time to come back and see Cherie." Clara Grant habitually ran a hand through her hair, then suddenly recalled his unfinished sentence. "Dr. Linden, what were you saying just now? Mr... Quinn took Cherie back to... where?"
"Oh, I meant that Seth took Cherie out for a bit just a few days ago. Seeing him here again, I was just making a casual comment," Rowan Linden said, glancing at Seth Quinn with a raised eyebrow.
"He took Cherie out to play?" Clara Grant asked, worried. "Is his health good enough to be discharged so casually? What if he overexerts himself? Won’t that affect his condition?"
"Rest assured, Miss Grant. Cherie is doing quite well, so of course he can go out and play..." A knowing smile played on Rowan Linden’s lips.
