Chapter 122 Accident
Chapter 122 Accident
Territory Universe - Unknown Star System
A mineral resource planet
A new day begins, and the workers start their work chatting and laughing.
Hundreds of overseers dressed in Imperial sergeant-level uniforms led a group of people slowly along the edge of the mine, inspecting everything around them to prevent any operational problems.
With the presence of large machinery, overseers no longer need to use weapons or whips to drive the workers away. Instead, they can simply keep an eye on the workers who might slack off at any time, based on the various instructions issued by the empire.
Of course, it is a source of pride for ordinary people under imperial rule to be able to work in such military resource factories, since the wages here are much higher than in their own society, and there are also various protective insurances such as accidental injury insurance.
Among the puppet regimes that were destroyed and rebuilt by the empire, those fat, old men had tried every means to seize the workers' money, but they only became more restrained after a worker was forced to go to an imperial garrison camp when most of these parasites were wiped out.
"Bi~! Bi~!" After an unknown amount of time, the loudspeakers at various resettlement points on the construction site began to emit a special whistle sound.
"..." The workers began to leave their work areas one by one, chatting and laughing as they headed to the rest area.
Based on the time, it's currently lunchtime and a break period.
"Cheers to the Empire!" A group of workers raised their low-alcohol drinks, shouting joyfully for the Empire. It was a wonderful and fulfilling day, but...
Inside the construction site, next to a large excavator, some kind of crack is appearing and then begins to expand until it becomes something that resembles a passage.
"Patrol Team Seven, Patrol Team Seven, there's movement in area G37, it might be a mechanical problem, go check it out." In the control center monitoring the entire work area, the employees who discovered the problem began calling the patrol team.
"Received, we are in the G37 area, heading towards... Ah... Zzzzz..." The Seventh Squad had just responded when screams and sounds of being torn apart came from the other end.
"Boss, something's wrong." The employee immediately looked at his boss.
"Let me see..." The leader took the earpiece, and then heard many different footsteps and pitiful howls inside...
"Immediately raise the protective barrier and then activate the air raid sirens." The leader, who had once fought alongside the Empire in a world, seemed to have thought of something and issued the order.
"Yes! Boss."
Outside the construction site, workers who were enjoying drinks and conversation suddenly received an emergency alarm on their personal smartphones, followed by the sound of piercing sirens blaring in the sky.
"Rumble~~" The ground began to shake, and one after another, huge, thick walls rose from the ground, isolating the G37 work area, which covers ten million square kilometers.
"Whoosh!" A behemoth-class battlecruiser emerged from warp drive and appeared in planetary orbit, followed by the rapid descent of hundreds of drop pods...
Seeing this, the millions of workers, though eager to see what was going on, were quickly driven away from the construction site by the overseers and the civilian soldiers in SMS power armor behind them.
"Whoosh—! Boom—!" A laser suddenly appeared from the other side of the wall, destroying a drop pod that was descending from the sky...
"Continue to leave in an orderly manner!" an officer shouted, gesturing for a soldier to go and inquire what had happened.
"Whoosh—!" A thick beam of light shot from the mine into the sky, directly hitting the behemoth-class battlecruiser that was trying to dodge. Then, a dozen beams of the same thickness and nearly a hundred thin beams kept shooting at the behemoth-class battlecruiser in the sky, turning this heavily armored interstellar warship into pieces.
"This is troublesome. Notify the base at the rear that we've encountered enemies with beam weapons." The officer frowned, looking at the civilian workers who had already left, and gave the order to a soldier.
"Yes, sir." The soldier immediately went to find the communications officer.
"Control center, how thick is the isolation wall?" the officer asked the control center as he watched reconnaissance robots fly toward the target area.
"It's 100 meters thick, enough to withstand a direct hit from even the smallest man-portable nuclear weapon," came the reply from the communicator.
"Whoosh! Boom!" A thick beam of light struck the high ground where the control center was located, but fortunately, the area had been reinforced with cement, so there were no major problems.
"Damn it! Raise another ring of walls!" came an exasperated voice from the communicator.
"Whoosh whoosh whoosh..." Suddenly, numerous beams of light appeared in the target area, followed by hundreds of explosions in the sky...
"Sir, our reconnaissance robot has been destroyed," a soldier reported.
"Did you get any useful information?" the officer asked.
“Got it, this is the invading… biome.” The soldier responded, then reported what he had found using a bio-report.
“What strange things. Never mind, send them to the third planet and let them analyze what kind of creatures these are,” the officer said.
"Yes, sir!" the soldier began calling out to the Fifth Planet Base.
"Sir, report from the controlled area: there are too many unknown creatures, including more than a dozen large creatures that are 60 meters tall," a soldier reported.
"Pass the order: go up to the city walls. No matter why they are on Imperial territory, wipe them all out, leave no one alive," the officer commanded.
"Yes, sir." The soldier left.

The third planet of the star system - Imperial Fortress Base
"Commander, this is a report sent back from the Sixth Mining Planet." The adjutant handed the tablet to the commander who had come to the command center.
"A behemoth-class battlecruiser is gone?" The commander, the protagonist, was stunned for a moment.
"Yes, a warship was destroyed by a group of creatures from an unknown invading biome, suspected of possessing laser weapons," the adjutant reported.
"Send a Star Destroyer squadron to help, and a landing craft squadron to evacuate the workers from that planet," the commander ordered.
"Yes... wait, breaking news! Numerous spatial tunnels have been discovered on that planet, along with an uncountable number of unknown creatures." The adjutant said after receiving a new report just as he was about to leave.
"What's the situation on Planet Six now?" the commander asked the communications officers beside him.
"A large number of reconnaissance satellites have been destroyed, ground troops have lost contact, and the specific casualties are unknown," the communications officer reported.
"Send the report back to headquarters. We need support from the base and mobile forces," the commander ordered, looking at the strange creatures on the tablet.
"Yes, Commander!"
