Chapter 225 Reunion (Part )
Chapter 225 Reunion (Part )
Tao Yao gently put Chu Huanjun down and tucked him in. Just as she was about to get up to change the basin of water, he grabbed her wrist again.
Although he was drunk and still asleep, he was still very strong.
Tao Yao couldn't leave or sit, so she just let him hold her tightly. It was a rare opportunity for them to meet, so Tao Yao simply sat down against the headboard and rested Chu Huanjun's head on her thighs.
The night was long, and I didn't know when the day would come. When I was alone, Tao Yao always wanted to fall asleep quickly so that I wouldn't feel lonely in the long night.
But when they were alone, Taoyao wished the night could be longer, longer. The night belonged completely to the two of them. When the sun rose, they might go their separate ways, and nothing would be certain.
Tao Yao lit the bedside lamp a little brighter, letting the candlelight illuminate Chu Huanjun's face. It had been ages since she'd looked at him so closely. He was still the same, handsome, his face as white as fresh snow. He slept peacefully, his features calm, like a child's.
He seemed to be sleeping restlessly, his eyelashes fluttering like little fans, and his eyelids twitching violently. Tao Yao then gently massaged his eyelids with her fingertips, one by one, stroking his eyelashes, the corners of his eyes, and the red mole at the end of his eyebrows.
Tao Yao's heart, which had been restless for so long, finally calmed down. Nothing seemed to have changed. They had never parted ways, and she had never said those harsh, hurtful words. Everything had returned to normal.
She thought that when Chu Huanjun woke up, she would tell him that she actually liked him a little bit.
She wanted to tell him that she was grateful for the Longjing tea cakes he always gave her. Longjing tea cakes were sweet, but if they were not given by him, they would not be so sweet.
She also wanted to tell him that although the sky was high and the earth was far away, and there were still many places she wanted to go, she didn't mind staying with him for a while longer, even for a year or two - as long as he was willing.
I don’t know how long it took, but Taoyao started to feel sleepy again.
In his dream, Chu Huanjun was standing under the wisteria trellis in the small courtyard outside the door, holding a long sword in his hand.
Tao Yao was a little surprised, as she rarely saw Chu Huanjun use a sword - he always prided himself on being a playboy, and only carried a folding fan with him, using it as a weapon.
A gust of wind blew over, causing the flowers and leaves on the wisteria trellis to dance in the breeze. Golden light and shadow fell on his lake-blue robe, shimmering like spring water.
The long sword was unsheathed. He put one hand behind his back and danced with the sword with the other hand, forming a few sword flowers in the faint light like purple mist.
Tao Yao wanted to walk over, but found that her legs and feet were out of control. She could only watch him from a distance through a door in the house.
She thought about it and finally called his name, calling him Xiao Chu.
He heard it and turned around. The sunlight fell gracefully, stretching his figure taller.
"Yaoyao, it's cold outside. You'd better rest up in the house and stop thinking about those things." He said.
Tao Yao wondered what he was talking about. It was a gray, gloomy day outside, and she couldn't tell if it was sunny or cloudy. But countless rays of sunlight streamed into the small courtyard, making her feel warm.
Tao Yao lowered her head and suddenly realized that her body was covered with bandages - she was like a mummy, with scars all over her body, and was fixed to a medium-sized rattan chair.
No wonder she couldn't move.
What had happened to her? She was covered in wounds. Before she could ponder the reason, Chu Huanjun had already returned from outside. She could see clearly that his lake-blue robe was covered with a thin layer of fluffy snow. It turned out to be winter.
Chu Huanjun's face was flushed, perhaps from the sword dance he had just done. His sleeves were pulled up high above his elbows, revealing his slender muscles and faintly visible veins.
He sat down beside her, took a wooden comb in his hand and began to comb her hair.
While combing her hair, she was singing a song that Taoyao couldn't understand.
Taoyao felt uncomfortable, but she couldn't express it. She inserted the fine teeth of the comb into her hair and combed it down, breaking off three teeth.
A broken comb is not a good sign.
Chu Huanjun still smiled, quietly put the comb in a dark place where she couldn't see it, and said with a sigh: "Yaoyao, no one loves you more than I do. We will stay together forever."
Tao Yao closed her eyes and didn't want to listen to him anymore.
After an unknown amount of time, Tao Yao woke up again and realized that it was all just a dream.
Was it a dream, or just another vision of the future? She had no way of knowing.
She was covered in a thick crane feather cloak that belonged to Chu Huanjun. It was already daybreak, so Chu Huanjun should have woken up long ago. It was her fault for sleeping so soundly that she didn't even notice when he left.
The bedside lamp had burned out, presumably having burned all night. She sat there leaning against the bed all night, her back and neck aching and numb.
Tao Yao originally thought that when they met again, there might be a passionate flame, or the two of them might point fingers at each other and scold each other harshly, but she never expected that it would just be such a peaceful night.
When she pushed the door open, she saw An An and Ping Ping cleaning the courtyard. An An saw that she was in a mess and showed a look of disdain on her face. She asked, "Oh, didn't you sleep well last night?"
Tao Yao twisted her neck, shook her arms, and sighed, "It's more than just that I didn't sleep well—it can't even be considered sleep. I slept sitting up all night."
"Huh?" An An's eyes widened in surprise, "I thought..."
Pingping quickly came over and poked An An's spine, fearing that she would say something earth-shattering. She said softly, "Miss Taoyao, the prince went to the palace early this morning and specifically instructed us to take good care of you, as you must be exhausted after all the travel. The news in this mansion has been blocked, and no one knows you've returned. You should stay at Prince Yi's mansion for now and don't rush back."
Tao Yao nodded and smiled, "Yes, I understand. By the way, I want to go to Fuxiangzhai. Do you know the way? Can you draw me a map, a simple one would be fine."
An An's eyes lit up and she said, "That's easy. The prince previously sent me there to get something. I can draw the route with my eyes closed. Leave it to me."
As soon as she finished speaking, Tao Yao hurried back to Chu Huanjun's room and found paper and pen. An An closed her eyes and meditated for a moment, then picked up her pen and put pen to paper. In a few moments, a complete route map from Prince Yi's Mansion to Fuxiangzhai was clearly drawn.
Tao Yao couldn't help but applaud and praise: "Sister An An, I didn't expect that besides being good at dressing up, you're also very good at drawing maps!"
